Library Management

A managed collection, not an honour system.

Books are catalogued with their authors, publishers and categories, and each physical copy is tracked individually — so you know not just what the library owns, but where each copy is.

The problem

Nobody is quite sure which books exist, which are out on loan, or who has had one since last term.

Catalogue

The collection, described properly.

  • Books with authors, publishers and categories
  • Each physical copy tracked individually
  • Copy condition recorded as new, good, fair, poor or damaged

Members

Students and staff, drawn from records you already maintain.

  • Student and staff member types
  • Membership status tracked per member
  • Borrowing history against the member

Circulation

Issue, return and everything that goes wrong in between.

  • Loan status of issued, returned, overdue, lost or cancelled
  • Overdue detection without a manual check
  • Fines for overdue, lost and damaged items
  • Library reports on circulation and outstanding loans

Outcome: You know what the library owns, where each copy is, and who has it.

Library Management — common questions

Can we track multiple copies of the same book?

Yes. Each physical copy is a separate record with its own condition and status, so you can tell which specific copy is on loan.

Does it calculate overdue fines?

Yes. Loans are marked overdue automatically, and fines can be raised for overdue, lost and damaged items.

Can staff borrow as well as students?

Yes. Library members can be students or staff, drawn from the records already held in the system.
